In spite of it all I’ll fight as a man
What they’ve financially devised as a scam
And rigged as Uncle Sam’s retirement plan
Forcing families to lend each others wages
Spend more per person annually than any other nation
Inflated prices crazily and we’ve been payin’ it
Cause they somehow have been able to get away with it
Discrete frauds on a day to day sick count
Increase costs to create a fake discount
Patients maxing out on debit cards faster
Depending on each hospitals separate charge master
To bill expenses till their hope is discouraged
And have to pay the full price if you don’t have insurance
But even insurance companies face inflated costs
That can trickle down and increase your premium charge
Without a reason or incentive to change
Cause it would take away from the high percentage they gain
Politicians argue how to pay these bills and they fight
Without asking why these medical services are overpriced
Especially for senior citizens
Who depend on social security for dividends
While Franklin Roosevelt pretends to be concerned yet
Almost half died before collecting their first check
And since 1940 we’ve gotten nothing but stronger
By 2050 people will live up to 14 years longer
So as the population ages eventually
Adults will have fewer children and a longer life expectancy
So 40% by the time they’re 65
Will live close to or right below the poverty line
Without even given an honest explanation
For this level of economic deprivation
So it’s hard to learn to see through the traps
Plus part of your social security can also be taxed
At 6.2% of payments accrued
From your employer and the 6.2 percentage from you
So that’s 12.4% of their check
That goes right back to the government instead of their rent
Cause they need other sources of retirement income
Like pensions and most men desire to get one
90% of 50 year olds will try but they can’t
And 46% don’t even have retirement plans
That most have tried to get in more than one way
Not even an IRA or a 401K
So now social security’s required to last
As the biggest source of income that retirees have
But was never meant to be the principle source
It doesn’t take intelligence to see this system is flawed
Cause patients feel defenseless when they wait to read the statements
While increasing the payments for hip and knee replacements
So even if it’s a medical emergency
People are given pain killers now instead of surgery
Once Medicare went from paying doctors services
To a bundling system to cut the costs of purchases
Left in despair without the care that they need
Because apparently America don’t care about it’s elderly
Treated as if they ain’t worthy of livin’
With every year 100 thousand less surgeries given
So hospitals will have to settle for a flat fee
For all the care a knee replacement patient might need
So that means that if there’s future complications
It adds to the expenses and differs the doctors payments
So they try to avoid the costliest patients
And give the citizens with less risk the replacements
It’s like they’ve rigged it against them
And Seniors are treated as guinea pigs of the system
Causing problems cause the stakes are even higher
And a conflict of interest between the patient and provider
Causing physicians to spend less time and energy
With their patients as the hospitals decrease amenities
So much that health care analysts predict
That patients will only have part-time aid to assist
Instead of full time rehabilitation to give
After surgery for replacement of a knee or a hip
They also started using low cost implants
With less range of movement but still cost you a grand
Cause hospitals that spend the least on Seniors bones and joints
Medicare even began awarding bonus points
Knowing in spite that the evidence suggests
That spending less results in higher rates of death
Cause they’ve been hit with budget cuts from their funding
And basically Medicare has now been running out of money
So what are the results that we’re left with?
People skip recommended treatments because it’s expensive
It’s much cheaper to stay sick than heal
This way they can maybe afford the cost of living and nutritious meals
It only worsens when you hope for the most
We need better social services for older adults
Because we spend a disproportionate amount
On healthcare compared to pensions, family, and a house
So the direction that we’re headed is trouble
With the total number of Seniors expected to double
As I watch my grandmother’s life deteriorate
And her savings disappear from what she gives to the state
Cause now I understand that nothing’s planned fair
And was better off with her grandson’s than Uncle Sam’s care
