Daddy’s A Cop

(Verse 1)
So check this out cause I’m the proof in the pot
I learned the hard way to never tell the truth to a cop
After I said I’m a casual user of pot
I got arrested and actually ended up losing a job
Like damn, I can’t believe these dudes are in charge
Plus not to mention pursuing a job in music is hard
A minute ago I was minding my business
Till all of a sudden this guy’s behind me by inches
In his tinted windows to front hard speeding through
Creepin’ in an undercover unmarked vehicle
As far as I know I had followed the law
So why did you follow me for? What’s the probable cause?
Huh? Probably cause you heard the noise from all the songs
And if not then why don’t you go and turn your voice recorder on?
With your gun, vest, and night stick. It just doesn’t add up
Already handcuffed and he still called for backup
With 3 cops on the side of the road
In the middle of the day all for some pot that I smoked
You’re a joke! All cause I had an 8th of crops
And unfortunately guilty cause my Daddy ain’t a cop

(Chorus)
My favorite line I was always taught was
It ain’t a crime if you don’t get caught but
If you do it doesn’t matter or not
Cause it’ll never be a crime if your Daddy’s A Cop

(Verse 2)
The way I see it what I’m viewing is a pattern
Cause from where I’m looking at it there’s a root to all this madness
That fuels us in this rapping, music and this passion
But the proof that you imagined ain’t the truth of how it happened
My father knew you as a kid when you were boys
Now they’re enforcing authority giving you a choice
But I can’t be a part of all the sickness you enjoy
And all of the spineless undercover snitches you employ
Testin’ the levels that I had in my system
Not a matter of opinion, this is fact vs. fiction
Plus not to mention all the frauds you endorse
And all of the stupid hypocritical laws you enforce
And it don’t matter if it’s fair or it’s not
Cause it’ll never be a crime if your parents a cop
Like isn’t it odd? It just occurred to my attention
That they’re above these petty laws of permanent oppression
Damn! I’m tryna word this with discretion
Man! You’re not a person, you’re a weapon
Independent of the world’s institutions
Above all the laws and absurdly intrusive
I firmly refute this verse inconclusive
Words on the loose from the urge of this music
Cause all I want to do is puff on a blunt but
They arrest us for the same stuff that his son does
Cause it ain’t back in the day like it once was
When everybody was driving around with a drunk buzz
They let it slide when their kids light spliffs
Then treat everybody else’s kids like shit
Cause for the rest it’s like cells they want us held in
And hell for anyone without a relative to help them
Drunk driving while puffin’ the pot
But it’ll never be a crime cause her husband’s a cop
Damn!

(Chorus)
My favorite line I was always taught was
It ain’t a crime if you don’t get caught but
If you do it doesn’t matter or not
Cause it’ll never be a crime if your Daddy’s A Cop
My favorite line I was always taught was
It ain’t a crime if you don’t get caught but
If you do it doesn’t matter or not
Because you’ll never get convicted if your Daddy’s A Cop

(Verse)
Now I know that people say that there’s good cops
But how can that be when they’re portraying a crook’s job?
Man that’s why I had to chuckle back at you
When your only explanation’s that there’s “a couple bad apples”
They need to get paid for their protective “service” though
If I became a cop they would treat me like I’m Serpico
Cause everybody knows if peace were their interests
Their wouldn’t even be any police in existence
But still harass just in order to keep charge
And overcompensate for what they’re lacking in street smarts
While their kids drive regardless what the speeds are
Flash their Dad’s badge and get out of jail free card
There’s not a shred of dignity in this hypocrisy
No peace and equality the police are a mockery
Rebellion is the only choice for me I guess
Hip Hop has always been the only voice for the oppressed

(Chorus)
My favorite line I was always taught was
It ain’t a crime if you don’t get caught but
If you do it doesn’t matter or not
Cause it’ll never be a crime if your Daddy’s A Cop
My favorite line I was always taught was
It ain’t a crime if you don’t get caught but
If you do it doesn’t matter or not
Because you’ll never get convicted if your husband’s a cop
